Yes, it works with C++. You have to be sure to select the &#039;g++&#039; compiler during your Cygwin install, and then compile your programs using &#039;g++&#039; instead of &#039;gcc&#039;.</description>

I figured it was OK for my friend, who only had access to Windows machines, and just wanted something which which he could try out simply C++ programs for his own benefit, but the considerations you raise are very pertinent in almost any other circumstance.</description>
